DIFFICULT TO YEREVAN POLICE HEAD SAYS DISCLOSING CAR ARSON A DIFFICULT CASE

“It is very unpleasant for us when such cases happen to reporters,” Nerses Nazaryan, Yerevan city department head of police, said today speaking about the incident when the car of Ara Saghatelyan, owner of Panorama.am and My Right newspapers, was burned.

The car was burned early this February in the yard of the editor’s house. A Nissan x-terra car of 2004 production, it was without insurance and cost some $4,000 in damage.

The police head of the capital assured that the talks that they do not want to disclose the case do not meet the reality. He even said, “Such cases do not bring honor to us.” Nazaryan believes such cases are difficult to disclose. He said a special group is set up to disclose the crime.

The reporters also tried to find out if Mr. Nazaryan knows about the incident which happened with “Shant” TV company when a policeman introduced himself as a employee of criminal investigation service and treated a reporter rudely. Nazaryan did not know about the incident and asked to inform him about the happening after the press conference.
