TOURISTS TO VISIT ARMENIA IN 2007

The Armenian ministry of trade and economic development made a forecasts of 400 000 tourists visiting Armenia this year. In 2006, some 380 000 tourists visited Armenia, Deputy Minister of Trade and Economic Development Ara Petrosyan said.

In the words of the deputy minister, Armenia considers tourisms as one of the pillars of economic development. “Tourism has been and is in the center of government’s attention,” Petrosyan said.

Tourists normally spend $1000 for one week trip to Armenia, including air ticket. The sector has reported 25 percent growth per annum. The deputy minister believes “Armenia has serious chances to keep up to that pace.”
