DOES ‘ARMENTEL’ NEGLECT THE LAW

A 4-5 years old child acts in the preview trailer of one of the services of “ArmenTel” – Go. This trailer is shown by several TV companies, the character of the child is used in the external advertisement of that service as well. The law “On the advertisement” clearly defines: “Video-audio or other usage of the characters of minors is prohibited, if it doesn’t concern the goods designed for minors”.

In the words of Emil Sahakyan, Executive on Public Relations of UNICEF, in foreign countries this problem is solved by the consent of the parents. “But if the Armenian law defines another thing, i.e. children should not be involved in the trailers, which do not relate to them, then this company has violated the law”, E. Sahakyan mentioned talking to our correspondent.

The Fund has not studied how many advertising and other companies have violated the law and used for advertisement of various goods and services. He called for the companies, who have made similar violations, “to get acquainted with the law well and not to infringe the law”.

According to Zhora Vazyan, Head of Advertisement Department of “Paradise” company, first of all they check whether the advertisement of the client does not infringe the law, then only now they prepare and broadcast it.

To remind, pursuant to the law “On the advertisement”, if the requirements of the advisor regarding the law, contradict the legislation, then the producer of the advertisement must inform him about that.
