NIS OBSERVERS SAY ARMENIAN POLLING IN COMPLIANCE WITH ELECTION CODE

NIS observation mission has followed the voting and counting process in all election communities and has visited 1192 polling centers making up 62 percent of the total number. NIS observers followed the procedures together with other international observers in 216 precincts.

According to the assessments of NIS observers, polling centers had necessary information, documents and facilities. The observers say the voting took place in a quiet surrounding and complied with the Armenian Election Code.

However, NIS observers have recorded several breaches. In precinct 12 of election community 1, the election committee started work 15 minutes late. Before the opening of polling center 21 of election community 24, a ballot paper with a sign for Impeachment was posted as a sample. In polling center 21 of election community 23, the voting box was not stamped in time. In precinct 38/38, there was no voting booth and citizens voted on the table.

In several communities the observers saw more than 15 voters being at the same time in the polling centers. In precincts 16/22 and 5/12, they saw two citizens voting together two each at a voting booth.

At precinct 33/69, the observers saw a bus with a poster of Prosperous Armenia.

The NIS observers recorded no breaches during vote counting.
