THE ARMENIAN SCHOOL CONNECTIVITY PROGRAM TRANSFERRED TO AERMENIAN GOVERNMENT

The ceremony of transferring the School connectivity program from US Government to Armenian colleagues took place in Yerevan today. “We’re grateful to US people in the person of US Department of State for the inestimable contribution granted to Armenian educational system by US through the mediation of “Project Harmony“ Armenian Branch these years”, - the Minister of Culture of Republic of Armenia Levon Mkrtchyan said at the ceremony.

According to the Minister, Armenian Government set him a rather serious mission – accomplishing the 100% computer equipment provision of Armenian schools within the next few years. This task will be substantially realized thanks to the US cooperation. At the same time the Deputy Program director of “Project Harmony” Mariam Martirosyan noted that their organization will keep ensuring the Armenian schools connectivity program activity up to June 30, 2007.

The Armenian schools connectivity program works in Armenia since 2000 and involves 330 schools. US State Department sponsores the program with 12,5 mln. US dollars and Armenian Government in its turn invests about 362 mln. AMD.
