GOVERNMENT ASKS TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL ON DIGITALIZATION OF ANCIENT MANUSCRIPTS

Levon Mkrtchyan, minister of education and science, will soon apply to Museum Hill to inform that the government will issue a decision soon, Lilit Galstyan, ministry press secretary, said.

Museum Hill and the Armenian Matenadaran, museum of ancient manuscripts, signed a memorandum of intention at an earlier date to digitalize the ancient manuscripts. The management of Matenadaran cancelled the memorandum saying the issue will be put under public and state discussion.

Matenadaran management was assigned today to submit a proposal on digitalization of manuscripts in 20 days time. Expert groups will estimate the costs and scope of work.
The Armenia education minister told reporters that in case of financial and technical resources, the manuscripts may be digitized by an Armenian organization.
