LAW ON THEATER A LOVE LETTER

“Free stage is not a building. It is mentality which we have not reached yet. We have insufficiency of other type of mentality and not a stage. All stages are open,” Art Head of Hakob Paronyan Comedy Theater and Chairman of Theater Actors’ Union Yervand Ghazanchyan said today.

In the words of Ghazanchyan, everybody understands and accepts that theaters need support of the state, but another problem is what attitude is displayed.

“The Law on Theater has become a “love letter.” Everybody speaks about it but in vain,” the theater art head said.

In his words “the ministry has decided to release some funds to the theater that stage the works of the Armenian classics and modern drama at last.” In his assurance, he says at last because without drama the Armenian theater cannot exist.
Despite of that, Ghazanchyan believes the ministry of finance and not culture must deal with the problems of theater.
The chairman of Theater Actors Union also reflected on attraction of youth in the performances. “I do not see any “ban” in this issue. I would even say we need “fresh” force, idea and new thoughts.” Ghazanchyan added.
