CLASSES POSTPONED IN SOME SCHOOLS IN ARMAVIR REGION

Our sources say several schools in the region of Armavir, including in Echmiadzin, have postponed classes due to construction works until September 17. Asked how the pupils will catch up with the lessons, Echmiadzin municipality education department head, Hovanes Hakobyan said: “If I say I do not know, will you be amazed?”

This region is unique also because the schoolchildren are compelled to buy school uniforms. Armavir municipality had announced the price of the uniform several months ago. Uniforms for girls of 1st to 5th grade cost 10.5 thousand drams ($1=340 drams), for boys – 11.5 thousand drams, 5th-8th grade schoolchildren – 14.5 thousand dram, high school girls – 15.5 thousand drams and for boys -16.5 thousand drams. In the words of Gaiane Sayadyan, Armavir region education department head, 21 thousand schoolchildren in the region of Armavir, except for Echmiadzin, will wear the uniform. “Children get excited when they see the uniforms. The demand is rising,” she said.
