MEDICAL CARE NOT AFFORDABALE FOR POPULATION

The percentage of rural dwellers that had medical problems but did not apply to a medical institution is 28.4. The indicator totals 18 percent in Yerevan. Research conducted by “Family” institute asserts that the main reason is “non- affordability of medical care.” In the words of Vardan Maruqyan, PHD in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, who is the co-author of the study, 86.3 percent of respondent mentioned “inadequacy of money” as a reason for not applying to medical institutions. The number is 88.3 percent among rural population. In the opinion of the expert, the indicator in rural areas is higher because transportation costs add to the expenses of medical care.
