Armenian unemployment at 7%

“According to October 1 statistics, the unemployment rate in the republic is 7%. We have 80,000 persons out of work, and about 96,000 searching for work,” Sona Harutyunyan, head of the state employment agency, said during an interview with a Panorama.am journalist. In her opinion, in Armenia today there is inequality in the workplace and workers are uninformed about their rights and responsibilities.

Official statistics show that 5,600 unemployed persons have found work corresponding to their professions. In Haruyunyan’s opinion, many who are out of work do not know what social guarantees exist, programs that can work in their favor. We note that recently the state employment agency came up with a strategic program that turns attention to the employment of youth and to the resources of employment in the provinces.
