One of the six winners, thirteen-year-old Mariam Marukyan, was given a certificate by Sha Jukang, representative of the UN general secretary. Armenia’s permanent representation in the UN Yerevan office, informing of the victory, said they had applied to the AGBU to ensure Mariam’s participation in the ceremonies. Mariam is an orphan, and lives with her grandmother.
In all, there were 12 thousand works presented at the competition, 471 of which were from Armenia. The competition in Armenia was organized by the Armenian office of the UN in Yerevan. We note that the six winners’ paintings will be pictured on stamps produced by the UN.
