UNIQUE LIBRARY IN NIS NEEDS TYPICAL BUILDING FACILITIES

“Yerevan Musical Library is unique not only in Armenia but also among NIS state. Our library has 220 thousand notes and musical literature,” Gulo Nahatakyan, director of the library, told Panorama.am correspondent. In her words, the library has rather rich resources and does not lack newly publishing musical books or notes.

“We have been able to purchase literature in our field due to funds released by the state. This year, we have purchased 2000 items of books. Our resources are also filled by donations,” Nahatakyan said.

However, like any other library, the unique musical library also needs problems with the building. It needs a typical building. At the moment, the library functions in the first floor of a multi-block building on Tigran Mets Street. “We have not reached to the level that real significance is attached to musical libraries and generally to libraries,” the library director said. In her words, the library is included in the list of buildings under reconstruction and they strongly hope that in 2008 the program will come true.
