Today the ‘Digitech’ 3rd international IT exhibition opening ceremony took place. Nerses Eritsyan, Minister of Trade and Economic Development, and Karen Vardanyan, Exhibition Manager and ITEU Executive Director, cut the symbolic red ribbon.
According to Mr. Vardanyan, already today one can state the success of the exhibition: “Our goal is to make ‘Digitech’ the largest IT exhibition in the region.” “’Digitech’ is first of all a medium,” he said, “that allows IT companies to communicate with their consumers helping to create new business relationships.”
Zhenya Azizyan, Head of the IT Department of the Ministry of Trade and Economic Development, maintained that Armenia’s future is dependent on creating an IT-based economy. “In this sense, ‘Digitech’ fulfils a function of creating an informational society,’’ she said. Mrs. Azizyan also informed that a new strategy for IT introduction and implementation which will be based on state/private sector cooperation, has already been created.
Along with 43 companies, the Armenian Government also is represented at this year’s exhibition, as well as, for the first time, IBM. ‘Business Solutions’ and ‘Electronic Management’ forums as well as a series of seminars entitled ‘Digitech Life’ are scheduled to be held within the program of ‘Digitech.’ The exhibition will last till October 28.
