POLITICAL SCIENTIST: “ELECTION DETERMINED BY INTERNAL POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS NOT BY FOREIGN VISITS”

“I believe there is an evident link between the upcoming presidential elections and the prime minister’s visits to USA and France,” Hmaiak Hovanisyan, a political scientist, answered Panorama.am reporter’s question on the prime minister’s visits. In his words, those visits were programmed and implemented with one aim, that is, to show that the favorite person of the authorities in power is Serzh Sargsyan and that he is accepted abroad. “Armenian authorities in power view the visits as a positive PR for their favorite Serzh Sargsyan,” Hovanisyan mentioned.

Concurrently, the political scientist shared his opinion saying that in any case the results of the polls will be determined not by foreign visits but by internal political developments. “I do not believe that this type of PR that stems from meetings, communications and receptions with key persons of world political centers will predetermine successful end of the elections for the favorite of the authorities in power.”
