150th Anniversary of G. Bashindjagkyan in National Gallery

Today a meeting was organized in the National Gallery celebrating the 150 anniversary of the famous Armenian artist Gevorg Bashindjagkyan. Paravon Mirzoyan, the head of the gallery, said that he was the first Armenian national painter, “He was the first one to glorify our country.”

Bashindjagkyan’s best friends came to celebrate his anniversary, too. They mentioned particularly that he was not only a landscape painter but also portrait painter, his heroes became the symbols of our country: Ararat, Aragats, Sevan.

Besides, Bashindjagkyan’s granddaughters were present at the meeting, too. They visited Armenia from Moscow especially for this reason: to celebrate their grandfather’s 150th anniversary.
