TOMORROW WORLD DAY OF GREETING

The whole world is celebrating today the Day of Greeting. This holiday was invented by two brothers, Michael and Brian Makormacs, who lived in Nebraska state of USA. The day was first celebrated in 1972 during hot years of cold war. About 140 countries of the world take part in this holiday.

Different nations have developed different ways of greeting. For example, in Old China, Mongolia and Egypt they used to ask “Are your domestic animals well?” when greeting each other. It was connected with the fact that the prosperity of the families was connected with domestic animals. In fact, they were asking about their fellow’s prosperity.

Until today, the funniest way of greeting is among African tribes. For example, Zulus tribe says “I can see you” when they meet someone. Akamba tribes of Kenia, as a sign of respect, spit out at each other. In Zambia, there is a customs to applaud when seeing each other. The Jews have a customs to say ''peace with you'' and the Iranian say ''be happy.''
