UNIVERSITY DISCUSSES PROSPECTS OF NATURAL SCIENCES

The main strategic issue of education is to raise the interest of students in natural sciences and to ensure that quality cadres are produced. Alexander Pokrovski, the founder of UNESCO Moscow Bureau told a seminar organized at Yerevan State University (YSU) today that this is a common problem both for developed and non-developed countries. Pokrovski introduced to a project that has been developed in the course of 9 years and is implemented in 95 countries. The modern teaching system is based on theory and demonstration of experiments. The new methodology suggests shifting from demonstration to experience so that the students may conduct experiments on their own.

YSU deputy rector Alexander Grigoryan said that the seminar is organized in the university because pre-university education is one of the priority strategic issues of the establishment. The event is organized by UNESCO Moscow Bureau and YSU International Cooperation Department.
