CLAIMS TO INCREASE TRANSPORT FEES

Eighteen companies have applied to the Ministry of Transport and Communication claiming to raise the prices of inter-regional transport fees, Susanna Tonoyan, the press secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communication told Panorama.am. The companies offer to raise the prices by 30-35%. They say that in the aftermath of gas price increase they have to make such decision, the source says. “We have not made any decision yet. The competition committee should define the prices and in 15-30 days they will make a decision,” said Tonoyan. Note that the Ministry of Transport and Communication is authorized to interfere into inter-regional transport fees and the municipalities define the prices for the in-city transport. Henrik Navasardyan of the Yerevan Municipality told Panorama.am that they have not received any claim from any company. But the Municipality of Gyumri has also increased the prices for the bus tickets.
