OPENING OF ARMENIAN-TURKISH BORDER HAS POSITIVE IMPACT ON ARMENIAN ECONOMY

The opening of Armenian-Turkish border will have a positive impact on the development of importing and on growing of its competitiveness, Ninke Omes, the permanent representative of International Monetary Fund to Armenia told at news conference.

“By opening of the border Armenia will get more competitive resources which will contribute to the economic development,” IMF representative said.

It has been stated that Armenian economy is in its transitional stage and irrespective of many market mechanisms; the economy is not as much competitive as it should be.

“Armenia has a small market, and the borders are close, hence the importing is less competitive,” she said.
