Turkey, Iran reach historical deal

Turkish PM’s visit to Iran was marked by signing an energy deal. According to the Turkish media, the gas deal on table for over a year has been signed at last.

The deal enables Turkey, on behalf of “TPAO” company, to get gas from Iran’s “Southern Pars” Gas Field. The Turkish sources call the Turkish-Iranian gas deal “historical”. The deal includes three principal points:

1. Some mines of the “Southern Pars” Gas Field will be allocated to Turkish “TPAO”.
2. Iranian gas will be exported to the European market through Turkey.
3. Turkmenistan will supply gas to Turkey through Iran.
