Turkey expects to buy cheap electricity from Armenia

The Chairman of Turkey’s “Energy Market Regulation Union” (EPDK) Hasan Kyoktas said in an interview with the Sabah daily the period of solidarity on energy issues gets under way in the region.

Countries producing cheap electricity are step by step reaching consensus over selling it to the neighbors at cheaper prices.

“Turkey already makes its way to the global role-playing. It is turning to a country that demonstrats interest in the problems of its neighbors. We sell electricity to Iraq, evolve electricity trade with Greece. We bought electricity from Armenia in 1990s. The issue is in agenda again,” Kyoktas said. This is one of the interests to contribute to the Armenian-Turkish normalization, he highlighted.
