Polish president, ill with cold, is hospitalized

Polish President Lech Kaczynski has sought hospital treatment for a cold. A presidential aide, Pawel Wypych, said Tuesday evening that Kaczynski, 60, was taken to a hospital for testing, foreign media reported.

Wypych said the illness is probably the result of the president standing in the rain during ceremonies last Wednesday marking Poland's Nov. 11 Independence Day holiday.

President has canceled all official engagements through the end of the week and is not going to attend the EU summit due this week.
