Children will not suffer a week of missed classes, Education and Science Deputy Minister says

Armenia has closed kindergartens and schools for a week by December 19, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Manuk Mkrtchyan told reporters today.

As he said, Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan has signed an order over closing kindergartens and schools in Armenia December 8-19, taking into consideration Healthcare Minister’s offer.

According to the Deputy Minister, children will not suffer a week of missed classes: the schools with 5-day schedule will temporarily shift to a 6-day one and those with 6-day schedule will have one class extra every day.

The head of the Education and Science Ministry public education department Artak Poghosyan said the schools will re-open December 21 and the classes will continue by December 26.

Schoolchildren will have their winter holidays December 28-January 10.
