Russian team of Greco-Roman wrestling discharged those wrestlers with Armenian names from attending Baku hosted European Championship on April 13-18. According to “Vess Sport” Gogi Koguashvili, the coach of the team explained why they’ve decided to discharge Seyran Simonyan and Mihran Harutyunyan.
“First we though to take the chance and include Simonyan and Harutyunyan, but Simonyan is getting prepared to an operation and regarding Harutyunyan, we’ve decided to discharge him to avoid instigations. I think everybody knows the results. There’s no place to politics in sport and the wrestlers are known as kind and friendly. It’s not by chance we’re called wrestling brotherhood. I don’t doubt the Azerbaijani side would guarantee security, but nothing could be foreseen,” he said.
It’s worth reminding that Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team rejected leaving to Baku and attend continental championship.
