Araks River can save Lake Urmia of Iran

 If Araks River supports Lake Urmia, the lake could have cope with the crisis, Hasan Abbas Nezhad, the director of environmental protection organization based in Western Azerbaijan province told “IRNA” news agency.

The Iranian official has said that if one billion cubic meters water is released annually for five years, Lake Urmia can be saved.

“The drying of Lake Urmia threatens not only the nature of Western Azerbaijan but the other provinces of the country,” Abbas Nezhad said.
