Saransk, Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don may be deprived of right to host World Cup

Russia is tasked with billion-dollar investments in construction and upgrades of venues and infrastructure for the World Cup. At the moment, 16 stadiums in 13 host cities are slated to host games. Four stadiums in the Moscow area are proposed; 13 new venues could be built.

Possibly this number [16 stadium] will drop to 12.

In addition to Moscow and St Petersburg, the 11 cities hoping to survive the cut are Kaliningrad, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Samara, Volgograd, Ekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar.

Saransk, Krasnodar and Rostov-on-Don are targeted as the main candidates to be cut.
