Renowned Armenian economist receives Turkish college annual prize

 Istanbul based Union of Galatasaray will grant Prof. Dr. Daron Acemoglu of Armenian descent with its annual prize, “Ermenihaber.am” news site said.

The union founded in 1908 awards its post graduates who became famous in science, art and culture fields. This year the council of the union decided to award an economist.

Daron Acemoglu was born in 1967 in Istanbul. In 1986 he finished the college of Galatasaray and then York University of Great Britain. Foreign Policy included Daron Acemoglu in its list of The Top 100 Global Thinkers.
