Iran discovers new gas field in Caspian Sea

 Iran has discovered a new gas filed in the Caspian Sea, Iranian state run “IRNA” news agency reported. According to the source Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinekad declared during an event in the province of Mazandara.

The discovered huge gas field contains an estimated 50 trillion cubic feet of gas. Iran’s President has stated that the new reserve will improve Iran’s role in the Caspian region and will change the region’s political and energy balance.

Iran, Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan share a disaccord over the legal status of the Caspian Sea region.
