Yerevan to receive World Book Capital title on April 22

Buenos Aires will transfer the World Book Capital title to Yerevan on April 22, Yerevan Mayor’s Cultural Advisor Aram Sukiasyan told a news conference.

Yerevan, named as the World Book Capital 2012 by UNESCO, will host a series of cultural events starting April 22. Around 23 stages will be installed in Yerevan’s “small center,” book sale points will be available in Liberty Square from May 5 to June 10, open-air book fairs will be held, Aram Sukiasyan noted. The main events will be held in Matenadaran and in Liberty Square, he said.

Yerevan, 12th World Book Capital, will host 60 high-ranking guests, including 13 mayors, for World Book Capital 2012 event series, the official said.
