Iran to transfer Caspian Sea water to central regions

 Iran launches a program of transferring some 500 million cubic meters of water from the Caspian Sea to central steppes of the country per annum, Iranian official IRNA news agency said.

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was present at the official inauguration ceremony of the largest pipe-laying project.

Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan share some disagreements over the legal status of the Caspian Sea.
