Casillas considering MLS stint: ‘I would like to play out my football in a more relaxed environment’

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has suggested he may finish his career in America if the pressure of playing in Spain becomes too much to handle, ESPN reported. 

Casillas, 31, has openly signalled his intentions to not look for a new deal at the Bernabeu when he comes off contract in 2017, citing the scrutiny he faces as a telling factor in his decision.

But while the Spaniard is eager to remain a one club player, he could use the MLS as a way to ease into retirement.

"I would like to retire with Madrid, but if the critics are fierce when I am 31, imagine what they will be like when I am 37," he told La Sexta. "I would like to play out my football in the future in a more relaxed environment and if I have to play somewhere else then it would be for a team that would not come into direct competition with Real Madrid. For example, in the USA, which I love."
