By signing the Free Trade Agreement, Armenia would become a partner to the EU countries, which would allow to determine the economic policy in Yerevan, while by joining the Customs Union, Armenia would not have that independence, political scientist Alexander Markarov told reporters on Thursday.

Regarding Armenia’s security policy in case of initialing the Association Agreement with the EU and joining the Customs Union, the analyst said that Brussels has no mechanisms to ensure security in the Caucasus, while having practice with Russia (cooperation within the framework of CSTO), Armenia is ready to continue its security policy within that practice.

So, the expert did not rule out that there can be contradictions between these two vectors over the above mentioned issues.
