President attends opening ceremony of European Individual Chess Championship

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, who is also the President of Armenian Chess Federation, attended the opening ceremony of the 15th European Individual Chess Championship on Sunday at Al. Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, the presidential press service reported. 

The championship – Tigran Petrosian Memorial – will be held on March 2-15 in Yerevan.

The championship will be organized in 11-round Swiss system in accordance with the ECU Tournament Rules and FIDE Laws of Chess. 263 chess players from 27 countries, including 130 grandmasters, take part in the championship.
