Armenian chess players at U.S. Championships

GM Varuzhan Akobian beat one of the leaders, GM Timur Gareev, in Round 5 of the U.S. Men’s Championship in Saint Louis. Currently, Akobian shares 2nd-5th positions with 3 points. GM Aleksandr Lenderman is in the lead with 4 points. 

WGM Tatev Abrahamyan is third with 2.5 points after four rounds of the U.S. Women’s Championship. GM Irina Krush is in the lead with 3.5 points.
