Ambassador: Dollar’s appreciation result of market developments

The dollar’s appreciation is not policy, outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern told reporters on Friday.

In his words, the exchange rate fluctuations are a result of market developments.

“This is not a political intervention,” the envoy said in response to the question of whether the dollar’s continuous appreciation was connected with the global political processes.

Heffern noted that the passing week was difficult because of the exchange rate fluctuations. Meanwhile, he expressed a view that the situation will stabilize, and called on the government, companies and citizens to work together.
