Defense minister of Armenia: State border protection is in safe hands

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, accompanied by Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Haykaz Baghmanyan and other high-ranking officers, visited the northeastern border zone of Armenia on August 7-8, the press service of Defense Ministry said.

The minister became familiar with combat and professional training of servicemen, their social conditions, and the construction work done. The condition of the military’s mess and the organization of their meals were also inspected.

The defense minister visited frontline positions to check the safety of defense and engineering structures and the knowledge of servicemen on duty and to inspect trenches. S. Ohanyan presented gifts to soldiers noted for excellent service.

Issues related to combat training, the frontline situation, the conditions of servicemen’s life, and the construction work process were also discussed during the visit. S. Ohanyan gave instructions aimed at more effective implementation of works.

The defense minister talked with new conscripts. He wished them peaceful service, stressing the importance of military service for each young Armenian in terms of discharging their duty towards the Homeland and acquiring the appropriate moral qualities.

Seyran Ohanyan also met with residents and heads of several border communities. He familiarized himself with their problems and assured them that the protection of the state border is in safe hands.
