Expert: Anti-Armenian reports of Walter and Markovic jeopardize PACE’s authority and Europe’s reputation

The two anti-Armenian reports to be put to the vote during the upcoming winter session of the PACE are of a propaganda nature and have a meaning of moral and psychological satisfaction, but they cannot have a legal impact on the negotiating process on the Karabakh conflict settlement and the existing military and political situation, political scientist Sergei Minasyan told a press conference today. 

In his words, adoption of those reports may only damage that organization’s authority in terms of a positive influence on the region and jeopardize the reputation of Europe in the eyes of the Armenian public.

As was reported, two anti-Armenian draft resolutions  -  British MP Robert Walter’s  “Escalation of violence in Nagorno Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan”, which is a controversial report that drew a wide response, and the report “Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water” by Milica Markovic from Bosnia and Herzegovina - will be put to vote in PACE on January 26.
