Arthur Atoyan: Fish export declines in about 70%

"A wrong strategic process has begun in fish farming. Anyone thinks they have a right to publish inaccurate information about the sector, like more than 8k hectares of land isn’t being irrigated, because fish farmers don’t use enough water or 30 communities are deprived from water because of too much water use. These statements have nothing to do with what’s really going on,” said president of “Fish Producers and Exporters” NGO Arthur Atoyan during a press conference.

According to him, the development of fish farming is hindered.

“We don’t have an institution to coordinate the sector and those inclined to engage in it have absolutely no idea of the industry. The process of monopolization has deepened,” said Atoyan. 

Arthur Atoyan also said that fish export declined in about 70%.
Haykaz Zeynalyan, who was also present at the press conference, said that the reason fish is expensive is that the quality of fish food produced in Armenia is low, so the fish farmers import it from abroad.
