Man sentenced for sexual relationship with a 16 years old

The court of General Jurisdiction of Armavir province led by Judge Hrachik Sargsyan sentenced Karlen, 26 for having sexual relationship with his wife.

Armavir Regional Investigative Committee opened a case on January 25, 2015 against Karlen under Criminal Code part 2 (points 1 and 3) of Article 141, i.e. when someone over 21 has regular sexual intercourse with an underage person.

As the verdict states (published by the Judicial Information System), in this case Karlen had sexual relationship with his own wife Karine, 16.

During a Court Session launched from February 17, Karlen mediated accelerated trial procedure, pleaded guilty and expressed regret for the crime committed, asked for forgiveness and for a mild non-custodial sentence.

Thus, the Court decided to sentence Karlen with 4-years imprisonment, yet they waived the punishment establishing probation for 2 years. The precautionary measure of not leaving the country remained unchanged.
