Criminal case opened on a false alarm on terrorist explosion at Yerevan airport

Yerevan Investigation Department at the RA Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case on a false alarm about a planned terrorist act, Armenia’s Investigative Committee reports in a released statement.

According to the information, an alarm was received on March 24, at 13:20 from Zvartnots Airport worker reporting about a received email stating a terrorist attack was planned. In particular, the email read that “Flight 558 from Yerevan to Moscow scheduled to depart on March 24 at 20:40 and the airport itself would be exploded.”

After the taken measures and searches conducted by RA competent bodies the alarm turned out to be false.  A criminal case under Article 259 of the RA Criminal Code was initiated. Preliminary investigation is underway.
