New NYC monument will honor victims of Pulse nightclub massacre

New York City will pitch in $1 million towards the monument honoring the 49 killed at the Orlando gay club, Gov. Cuomo announced Sunday, New York Daily News reports.

According to the source, the design and location of the monument will be determined by a 10-person commission of LGBT politicians, community leaders and activists, including former City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

To remind, on June 12, Omar Mateen stormed Pulse nightclub with an AR-15-style rifle and a handgun. The 29-year-old shot and killed 49 club patrons and wounded another 53 before police fatally shot him, ending the terrifying rampage
