The third round tie-break games of the FIDE World Chess Cup 2017 were played on Monday.
Armenian GM Levon Aronian won his game against Maxim Matlakov of Russia in a tough struggle to make it through to the fourth round of the tournament, the National Olympic Committee reports.
Other players qualified for Round 4 of the chess tour were Alexander Grischuk, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Anish Giri, Baadur Jobava, Richard Rapport and Ding Liren.
In the fourth round, Aronian will face Daniil Dubov.
