Aronian to face Carlsen at final round of London Chess Classic

Armenian chess grandmaster Levon Aronian drew with Michael Adams (England) at round eight of London Chess Classic, the concluding leg of the 2017 Grand Chess Tour.

This round of the chess tournament saw only one win and three other draws. In particular, Russian GM Ian Nepomniachtchi defeated Magnus Carlsen, while Hikaru Nakamura-Fabiano Caruana, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave-Viswanathan Anand and Wesley So-Sergey Karjakin games ended in draws, the National Olympic Committee said.

After eight rounds, Ian Nepomniachtchi is leading the table with 5.5 points, followed by Fabiano Caruana (5 points) and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (4.5 points). Aronian, Nakamura, Carlsen and So share 4-7 spots with 4 points apiece. 

The Armenian chess star is set to face Magnus Carlsen at the final round on Monday.
