Wine production up, vodka down in Armenia in 2017

Armenia’s wine output recorded a 30% increase in 2017, with the wine production volumes amounting to 8,852,500 liters in the country, the statistics show.

According to the figures released by the National Statistical Service (NSS), a total of 2,490,800 liters of wine were produced in Armenia in 2016.

Armenia produced 863,800 liters of champagne-wines in 2017, indicating an increase of 21.1%.

The beer production volumes also grew in the mentioned period to stand at 20,453,600 liters, thus increasing by 10.3%.

Meantime, the production volumes of some alcoholic beverages dropped in the country last year. The NSS data shows that vodka and vodka liqueur totaling to 7,318,700 liters were produced in the country in 2017, down by 10.9% from 2016.

The country’s whiskey output amounted to 1,051,500 liters in 2017, showing a decrease of 27.1% against the previous year’s production volumes (1,441,800 liters).
