Armenia saw an increase in electricity generation in the first month of 2018, according to the latest statistics.
A total of 830.1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced in Armenia in January 2018, up by 7% from the same period last year, Armenia's National Statistical Service (NSS) informed Panorama.am.
According to the NSS figures, the electricity generation at thermal power plants grew by 19.3%, amounting to 421.4 million kilowatt-hours in January.
Meantime, the electricity production volumes at hydropower plants cut down by 9.4% in the indicated period, standing at 127.5 million kilowatt-hours.
During the reporting period, 5.8 thousand gigajoules of thermal energy were produced in the country, with an annual decline of 19.4%.
In January 2018, Armenia’s Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) generated 280.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, down by 0.3% from January 2017.
