Armenia’s consumer prices down 1.2% in July: statistics

Consumer prices in Armenia dropped by 1.2% in July compared to June 2018, the National Statistical Service (NSS) told Panorama.am, adding the price cut was mainly prompted by a 2.9% deflation in food and non-alcoholic drinks.

According to the latest figures, in the indicated period the prices for food (including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco) and non-food products decreased by 2.5% and 0.5% respectively, while the service prices rose by 0.1%.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 102.3% in July this year from the same month of 2017, making up 101.3% – for food products, 105.5% – for non-food products and 101.4% for – for services, the NSS said.

Consumer prices fell by 1.5-0.5% in all the Armenian cities under study in July compared to June 2018, with the highest price drop rates registered in Vagharshapat and Ashtarak cities. Capital Yerevan saw a decrease of 1.1% in consumer prices in July.
