Russian border guards detain four trespassers at Armenian-Turkish border

Russian border guards serving in Armenia have apprehended a group of four trying to illegally cross the Armenian-Turkish border on Tuesday night.

The trespassers planned to hide themselves near the Araks River at nighttime to cross the Armenian border in a short period, the Border Guard Department of the Russian Federal Security Service in Armenia told Panorama.am.    

According to preliminary check, the detainees are from South Asia. Meantime, an investigation is underway to reveal the reasons behind the border crossing.

The trespassers have been handed over to the Armenian law enforcement agencies, the department said.
