Mother of baby found dead in trash can in Armenian town arrested

The mother of a one-year-old baby found dead in a trash can in Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri has been charged with murder under Article 104.1 of Armenia’s Criminal Code.

The body of the baby girl was found on 31 August, at around 2:20pm, with adhesive tapes wrapped around her hands and legs.

The mother has been placed under arrest, a source from the Investigative Committee told Panorama.am.

She is facing from 8 to 15 years in prison if found guilty.
