Armenian deputy PM assures gas price won’t change by April 1

The price of Russian natural gas supplied to Armenia will remain unchanged by at least April 1, 2020, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan told reporters on Monday.

He said the Armenian government continues negotiating the gas price with Moscow and Russian state-owned energy giant Gazprom.

“I cannot predict what will happen after April 1, since the talks aren’t over yet, and we haven’t summed up the agreements,” he said.

The deputy PM noted the negotiations focus on three factors which influence the gas tariffs, including the gas price at the border, savings and investments by Gazprom Armenia.

From 1 January this year, Russia has raised the price for the gas it sells to Armenia by 10 percent from $150 to $165 per one thousand cubic meters, but customers continue to pay the same price thanks to internal adjustments.
