Armenian parliament passes bill banning smoking in public places

The Armenian National Assembly adopted in the first reading a draft law that would prohibit smoking in public places.

Lawmakers voted 83 to 15 to pass the bill drafted by the government.

The anti-smoking legislation aims to prevent the diseases, disability and premature death caused by tobacco product use or second-hand smoke, promising to heavily fine those who do not comply with it.
